El Principio cero de la termodinámica o la ley cero de la termodinámica establece que si dos sistemas termodinámicos A y B están en equilibrio térmico, y B y C también están en equilibrio térmico, entonces A y C están en equilibrio térmico. El equilibrio térmico significa que si los sistemas están conectados de alguna manera, entonces el calor no sería intercambiado.
El inusual nombre de 'principio cero' se hizo necesaria cuando este concepto se encuentra más fundamental y básico de las leyes ya existentes de la termodinámica. La utilidad de esta ley es permitir a los sistemas ser definidos por la medición empírica de la temperatura.
