French anthropologist Marcellin Boule said that the skulls of Peking Man (Sinanthropus, now classified with Homo erectus) are "monkey-like." Others have pointed out that this was based on a poor translation, but the monkey quote does not misrepresent Boule's text.

Talk.Origins is making a mountain out of a molehill here. Gish relied on a loose English translation of the original quote in French, but he has not used it in more recent editions of his book.

Australia's Creation Science Foundation (now Creation Ministries International) also responded to this claim in the early 1990s when it was published in evolutionist Ian Plimer's book Telling Lies for God. See the response to pages 64-68 on the CMI website.
